The scholarship will be awarded to a Pacific Northwest student principally on the basis of academic achievements in science projects (that is chemistry, mathematics and physics) and who will be studying engineering. If there is no applicant in engineering, the award will be made to an eligible student studying chemistry, metallurgy, mathematics, physics, or to a student showing an interest in pursuing a career in the iron and steel profession. Consideration will be given to extracurricular activities and student’s statements.
A student is eligible to compete for the scholarship who, at the time of the application, is the child, grandchild (natural, adopted, or ward), spouse or niece/nephew of a member, in good standing, of the AIST Northwest Member Chapter (active or associate). A member in good standing is defined for the purpose of this scholarship only, as a member who has at least one year of current service and has attended at least one AIST sponsored event or meeting within the previous 12 months. The student must be accepted in an eligible four-year course at an accredited university or college. This award will be made without regard for financial need.
