This scholarship has been established to help students interested in programs of study leading to definite trade, technical, industrial or vocational occupations.
The APWU National Executive Board established the Vocational Scholarship to help students interested in programs of study leading to trade, technical, industrial or vocational occupations that can include: Culinary, Medical or Dental Assistant, Electrician, Real Estate, Auto Mechanic, Certified I/T-Computer Education, Massage Therapy or Cosmetology. At least one recipient from each of the five postal regions will receive $1,000 for nine months up to three consecutive years of school.
1. Applicant must be senior attending high school or other secondary school.
2. Applicant must be a child or grandchild, including stepchild or legally adopted child, of an active APWU member, a Retirees Department member, or a deceased member of the union. The APWU active or retired member must have been in good standing for at least one year immediately preceding the application deadline or preceding death.
3. Scholarship recipient must attend an accredited college or university, community college, or an accredited vocational school or vocational program for a consecutive period.
4. Scholarship must be used to pursue an undergraduate degree or postsecondary occupational education.
5. Relatives of APWU elected National Officrs are not eligibile.
