Bank of New Hampshire is a community bank, committed to helping students achieve their educational goals through LEAP (Local Educational Advancement Programs). LEAP is an educational initiative comprised of six components: a scholarship fund, college internships, a school outreach program for grades K-6, textbook donations, a child safety program and a unique savings program called College CD. These programs are particularly important to students from households for whom a lack of funds often means a lack of opportunity.
Through LEAP, Bank of New Hampshire has established a ten-year $225,000 scholarship fund. Nine $2,500 scholarships are awarded annually to high school seniors throughout New Hampshire who are enrolling fulltime in a postsecondary institution. The LEAP scholarships will be administered by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.
Scholarships are awarded based on financial need and merit. To be eligible, family income must be within the guidelines listed on the scholarship application. The merit evaluation includes a review of academic achievement, involvement in school activities, community volunteer activity and work experience. An appraisal of the applicant's abilities made by a teacher, employer or community leader is also considered.
