Scholarship applications and flyers are distributed through high school guidance counselors in the parishes (counties) surrounding Baton Rouge at the beginning of the spring semester. Each female applicant must be planning to attend college the following fall semester in engineering or computer science. An official high school transcript must be submitted along with the completed 4 page application. Information such as what the applicant has done during summer breaks, why she is interested in engineering, honors & scholarships, SAT/ACT scores and GPA is requested.
After the deadline has passed, the Baton Rouge Sections scholarship committee and officers meet to judge the applications based on the criteria above. In past years 6-7 $1000 scholarships have been awarded annually.
