The Charlotte-Shelburne Rotary Club created this scholarship in 1975 to honor Roy Thorpe, the club’s first president. Roy devoted his life to community service and was the embodiment of Rotary’s motto, “Service above self.” Scholarships are awarded to residents of Charlotte, Hinesburg, or Shelburne who demonstrate uncommon commitment and service to their communities.
