Scholarship Description

History
Clarence J. Myers, a member of SME Chapter 37 - Indianapolis, believed so much in the success of the manufacturing engineering world that he knew he wanted to do something to benefit the next generation of engineers. After Clarence passed away in 1977, his wife Josephine wanted to honor her late husband's wishes by establishing a memorial fund in his name in order to give back to the manufacturing community so beloved by her late husband Josephine established a fund in Clarence's name.

Josephine passed away in August 2003 and with her passing she left the Education Foundation with a gift of $25,000 to be placed into the memorial fund. The money in the fund will provide financial support to students specifically studying manufacturing at Indiana colleges and universities.

"I believe my uncle and aunt really thought positively of growth in the manufacturing field," stated Jeff Hughes, a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Myers. "They wanted their legacy to be passed on to others by helping to further the education of those students in Indiana who need help in pursuing their individual future careers."
