The Colleen Conley Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by the Central New Mexico Section of the Society of Women Engineers. Ms. Conley was a strong lifelong advocate of equal opportunity for women in technical fields until her death from cancer in 1996. With a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamline University, Ms. Conley embarked on a technical career first as an aircraft maintenance technician in the Air Force, than as an engineering technician at Honeywell and lastly, as software engineer at Intel. Throughout her career she devoted a great deal of time and energy to career guidance and hands-on science and engineering activities for young scientists. This scholarship was created based on Ms. Conley’s wish that every aspiring female scientist or engineer have the opportunity to further her education. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years as long as the recipient maintains a grade point average greater then 2.5, is enrolled in a college curriculum as a half-time (minimum) student, and completes sufficient coursework to maintain half-time (minimum) progress toward a degree. As part of the award, the recipient will also receive membership dues for a student-grade membership in the Society of Women Engineers.
