THE FUND
The David G. Plasch Aviation Scholarship Fund was created in loving memory of a young man who died on February 27, 1991 while serving his country in the Persian Gulf War. David lost his life in Iraq, the victim of enemy fire while piloting an Army Blackhawk helicopter on a mission to retrieve other Americans killed in action. David was posthumously awarded seven medals for his valor in Operation Desert Storm including the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Air Medal with Oakleaf Cluster, Army Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.
ELIGIBILITY
This fund provides support for students from Rockingham or Strafford County who are pursuing flight training or other aviation careers. There is a preference for students who have graduated from Portsmouth High School. Both traditional and adult students are eligible to apply for this funding.
AWARDS
This year, up to $3,000 will be awarded to individuals who are pursuing flight training through a FAA approved program or accredited academic institution.
