The Donald W. Webber Scholarship was established in 1997 by the partners of the law firm of Linnell, Choate and Webber and his friends and family. Justice Webber was born in Auburn, graduated from Edward Little High School in 1923 and from Bowdoin College in 1927. After graduating from Harvard Law School in 1931, he returned to Maine to practice. He was named the youngest justice to the Maine Superior Court at age 41 and later became an associate justice of the Supreme Judicial Court of Maine.
Beyond his legal and judicial practice, Justice Webber was active in other aspects of the community, serving as president of the Kiwanis Club and chairman of the United Way Campaign. He was a charter member of the Community Little Theater and a deacon and teacher with the High Street Congregational Church. The Donald W. Webber Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support for graduating seniors at Edward Little High School who are attending a four-year college.
