Scholarship Description

The Family Travel Forum/Society of American Travel Writers Teen Travel Writing Scholarship is open to students between the ages of 13 and 18 who attend junior high, high school or home school programs in the United States or Canada or American schools abroad. Using the [guidelines] found on our scholarship webpage (http://scholarship.familytravelforum.com), write about your travel experience in 600 words or less. Tell us [and your peers] where you went and what it meant to you – what you did, what you learned from the trip and/or how it changed you. Bring [other young travelers] into the world you visited. It can be funny, serious, contemplative or evocative, as well as informative. Essays must be accompanied by at least one photo, digital artwork or video. All applications must be received no later than 11:59pm EST on September 27, 2009. Late entries will not be considered. The top three winners will receive cash scholarship awards -- 1st $1000; 2nd $500; 3rd $250 [$200] and a two-night family stay at a Homewood Suites Hotel. Twenty-five finalists will win honorable mention awards and will receive a Rand McNally 2010 Atlas and two tickets to any Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museums or Ripley Aquariums. All winning essays will be published on Family Travel Forum’s [travelBIGO.com.]
