The Jordan-Besser Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a journalism student at Wichita State University.
The Jordan-Besser Scholarship, worth $1,000, is in memory of former journalists Bob Jordan and Milton Besser. Jordan, who covered the federal beat for The Wichita Eagle, died in a car accident near Topeka in 1971. Besser worked for the Associated Press for 34 years before joining the Wichita State University journalism faculty in 1971. He died of a heart attack in 1976.
To qualify for the Jordan-Besser Memorial Scholarship, applicants must carry a 2.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and be enrolled in and pass six hours of college credit or more.
