The Organization of Chinese Americans, Inc. (OCA) has been provided with funding from the UPS Foundation to fund the OCA-UPS Gold Mountain Scholarships for Asian Pacific Americans (APA) who are the first persons in their family to attend an institution of higher education. Chinese immigrants looked upon America as a mountain of golden opportunities to make a better life for themselves and their families.
The UPS Foundation was founded in 1951 and supports education and human welfare issues. UPS is committed to preparing our next generation of business leaders and thinkers by supporting diverse education programs. As the cost to attend colleges and universities continues to rise, UPS supports a wide range of scholarship programs to ensure students have the opportunity to pursue higher education. From partnering with the United Negro College Fund and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund as a way to offer assistance to minority students to offering a generous tuition assistance package to our own employees, the UPS Foundation (www.community.ups.com) is involved in strategic efforts to provide education assistance.
