Today, the APhA Auxiliary/APhA Foundation Student Pharmacists Scholarship Program recognizes full-time pharmacy students who help shape the future of their profession by maintaining active involvement in their school's APhA-ASP Chapter. Last year, nine scholarships in the amount of $1,000 were awarded.
General Eligibility Requirements:
* Complete at least one academic year in the professional sequence of courses.
* Be an active member in the APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP). This does not mean that the applicant must hold a leadership position but the applicant must show active participation in their chapter’s activities.
* Earn a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent grading system) in required pharmacy courses.
* Submit a letter from the college registrar or designee verifying the applicant’s current GPA.
* Submit an essay of up to 500 words addressing a designated topic.
* Submit two letters of recommendation, one letter from a college official or faculty member who can speak to the applicant’s leadership involvement with APhA-ASP and a second letter from a non-academic reference (i.e. pharmacist-employer, community service contact, pharmacy association or other membership association representative). The letter of reference from the non-academic source should address the applicant’s strengths in areas not involving academics or APhA-ASP involvement.
* Submit a current resume or CV.
* Submit a listing of pharmacy and non-pharmacy related activities that demonstrate the applicant’s community involvement and leadership skills. Please note activities for which academic credit was received.
* Previous APhA Auxiliary/APhA Foundation Student Pharmacist Scholarship recipients are not eligible; however, previous applicants are welcome to reapply.
